Assurance of Salvation
Assurance of Salvation
Theme: How Do I Know I Am Saved?
Many youth accept Christ but later struggle with doubt. This lesson builds confidence in God’s promise.
Many young believers accept Christ with joy — but later face doubts like:
“What if I’m not really saved?”
“What if I fail again?”
“What if God gives up on me?”
This lesson strengthens faith by grounding assurance not in feelings, but in God’s Word.
🎯 Objectives
Youth will:
• Understand that salvation is secure in Christ | Understand that assurance is based on God’s promise
• Learn signs of genuine salvation | Fight doubt with truth
• Overcome doubt and fear | Gain confidence in their relationship with Jesus Christ
📖 Key Verses
• 1 John 5:13 — We can know we have eternal life
• John 10:28 — No one can snatch us from God’s hand
1 John 5:13
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”
👉 God wants us to KNOW — not guess.
📚 Lesson Flow
1️⃣ Salvation Is Based on God’s Promise, Not Feelings
Feelings change daily — God’s Word does not.
📖 Hebrews 10:23
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
📖 John 10:28
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of My hand.”
👉 If salvation depended on feelings, we’d all lose it.
👉 It depends on God’s faithfulness.
👉 Truth: Assurance comes from trusting God’s promise.
Teaching Point:
Salvation is secured by Christ’s finished work — not our emotional state.
2️⃣ Evidence of Salvation | What Are the Signs of Genuine Salvation?
Assurance also grows when we see spiritual life.
Signs of a growing believer:
• Desire to know God
📖 Psalm 42:1
You begin to hunger for prayer, worship, Scripture.
• Conviction of sin
📖 John 16:8
You feel uncomfortable in sin. That’s the Holy Spirit working.
• Changed life and fruit
📖 Galatians 5:22–23
Love, joy, peace, patience…
Growth may be slow — but life produces fruit.
👉 Truth: Growth is proof of life.
👉 No fruit at all? Examine.
👉 Small fruit? That’s growth!
3️⃣ When Doubt Comes
Doubt is normal, especially for youth.
Doubt may come from:
• Guilt over sin
• Comparing yourself to others
• Spiritual attacks
• Lack of discipleship
How to respond:
• Return to the gospel
• Read Scripture
• Pray
• Talk to leaders
📖 Romans 8:1 — No condemnation
“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Important Truth:
Conviction leads you to God.
Condemnation pushes you away from God.
4️⃣ What If I Sin After Being Saved?
Salvation does not mean perfection — it means new direction.
📖 1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us…”
A true believer:
• Fails
• Repents
• Gets back up
• Keeps following Christ
