πΏ PALM SUNDAY: THE KING HAS COME
πΏ PALM SUNDAY: THE KING HAS COME
Text: Matthew 21:1–11
Theme: Receiving Jesus as King—on His terms, not ours
---
πͺΆ I. THE PREPARATION OF THE KING (vv. 1–3)
> “Go into the village… you will find a donkey…”
π Key Insight:
Jesus intentionally fulfills prophecy—this moment is not accidental.
π‘ Preaching Points:
Jesus planned His entrance—He is not a random Savior.
He knows exactly what is needed before you even ask.
“The Lord needs it” — everything we have belongs to Him.
π§ Application:
Are you willing to release what Jesus asks for?
Sometimes obedience looks simple—but it carries eternal purpose.
π€ Illustration:
Like reserving something important ahead of time—Jesus had already arranged His entry. God is always ahead of your situation.
---
π΄ II. THE HUMILITY OF THE KING (vv. 4–5)
> “See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey…”
π Key Insight:
Jesus enters not on a war horse, but a donkey—symbol of peace.
π‘ Preaching Points:
Earthly kings come with power; Jesus comes with humility.
He is a different kind of King—gentle, approachable, peaceful.
Fulfillment of prophecy (Zechariah 9:9).
π§ Application:
Do we expect Jesus to move in power only, or do we recognize Him in humility?
Sometimes God shows up in quiet, unexpected ways.
π€ Illustration:
A true leader doesn’t need to prove authority—he carries it quietly.
---
π III. THE PRAISE OF THE PEOPLE (vv. 6–9)
> “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
π Key Insight:
“Hosanna” means “Save us now!”
π‘ Preaching Points:
The crowd celebrates Jesus as King.
They lay down cloaks and branches—symbol of honor and surrender.
But their praise was emotional, not fully committed.
⚠️ Warning:
The same crowd shouting “Hosanna” will later shout “Crucify Him.”
π§ Application:
Is your praise consistent or conditional?
Do you worship Jesus only when He meets your expectations?
π€ Illustration:
Fans cheer loudly when a team is winning—but disappear when things get hard.
---
π€ IV. THE CONFUSION OF THE CITY (vv. 10–11)
> “Who is this?”
π Key Insight:
Even in the midst of miracles, people still questioned Jesus.
π‘ Preaching Points:
Not everyone recognizes Jesus, even when He is present.
The answer given: “This is Jesus, the prophet…” — incomplete understanding.
Many people today still misidentify Jesus.
π§ Application:
Who is Jesus to you?
A helper?
A prophet?
Or truly your King and Savior?
π€ Illustration:
You can be in a crowd that celebrates Jesus and still not truly know Him.
---
π₯ MAIN MESSAGE / BIG IDEA
Jesus is King—but He must be received not just with praise, but with surrender.
---
π ALTAR CALL / RESPONSE
Lay down your “cloak” (control, pride, sin)
Stop defining Jesus your way—receive Him as He truly is
Move from temporary praise → lifelong obedience
---
π£️ DECLARATION
“Panginoon Jesus, tinatanggap Kita bilang Hari ng buhay ko. Hindi lang sa salita, kundi sa buong puso at buhay. Hosanna—ligtas Mo ako ngayon!”
